Lilongwe — The People’s Party (PP) President, Joyce Banda, has called on Malawians to entrust her with the presidency in the upcoming September 16 elections, saying her leadership holds the key to unlocking Malawi’s full potential.

Addressing supporters in Lilongwe, Banda — who served as Malawi’s President from 2012 to 2014 — promised sweeping reforms aimed at curbing government wastage and uplifting the lives of ordinary citizens.

“I am coming back to restore integrity in government. We will stop reckless expenditures, cut the presidential salary, and review ministerial benefits so that we channel resources towards the poor,” Banda said.

She further pledged to strengthen social protection programs designed to alleviate poverty among the country’s most vulnerable communities.

As part of her vision for Malawi’s future, Banda committed to introducing free secondary education and promoting modernized, mechanized agriculture to boost food security and farmer incomes.

The PP leader expressed confidence that her reform agenda resonates with Malawians yearning for meaningful change.

Malawi heads to the polls on September 16 in a high-stakes election that has attracted several candidates, each promising to transform the country’s economic and governance landscape.
