United Democratic Front (UDF) president Atupele Muluzi has wrapped up a three-day campaign tour in Machinga District with a strong message of hope and change, assuring Malawians that his party is prepared to tackle the nation’s pressing challenges if elected on September 16.
Addressing a rally in Ngokwe, a rural trading centre near the Mozambique border, Muluzi acknowledged the growing frustrations among citizens over the country’s economic and social conditions. He urged voters to turn their dissatisfaction into action at the ballot box.
“I know how difficult life has become for many families. The UDF is ready with a clear plan to fix the problems and put Malawi back on the path of growth and stability,” Muluzi told the cheering crowd.
Highlighting his party’s priorities, Muluzi cited a string of crises that have plagued Malawians over the past five years, including:

- Persistent food shortages
- Soaring prices of essential goods
- Critical drug shortages in public hospitals
- Escalating farm input costs
- Chronic fuel shortages
Muluzi promised that, if voted into office, the UDF would implement policies aimed at reducing the cost of living, boosting agricultural productivity, improving healthcare services, and ensuring a consistent fuel supply.
He also stressed the need for leadership that listens to the people, promotes accountability, and unites Malawians across political and regional divides.
“This election is about choosing leaders who understand your struggles and have the capacity to deliver real solutions. On September 16, vote for the UDF and let’s rebuild our nation together,” he declared.
The UDF leader’s tour in Machinga drew large crowds in several communities, with residents expressing optimism about his message. As the campaign intensifies, Muluzi is expected to extend his outreach to other districts in the coming weeks, aiming to rally nationwide support ahead of the polls.
