Kasungu, Malawi — Former President and Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) leader, Professor Peter Mutharika, was welcomed with overwhelming enthusiasm in Kasungu as thousands of supporters gathered to show their loyalty and belief in his comeback.

The central region town was painted in blue as jubilant crowds lined the streets, waving placards, singing campaign songs, and chanting Mutharika’s name. The grand reception demonstrated the DPP’s growing momentum ahead of the forthcoming elections.

Addressing supporters, Mutharika promised to rescue Malawi from economic hardship, food insecurity, and poor governance, pledging that the DPP is ready with concrete plans to rebuild the nation.

“Kasungu has shown me today that Malawians are ready for real change. Together, we will bring back stability, development, and prosperity,” Mutharika declared to thunderous applause.

The rally highlighted key priorities of the DPP campaign, including job creation, agricultural revival, affordable fertilizer, and strong leadership that puts Malawians first.

Political analysts say the massive turnout in Kasungu sends a strong signal that Mutharika remains a powerful force in Malawian politics. The DPP’s ability to mobilize such large crowds in the central region could reshape the dynamics of the race as the election clock ticks down.

With the slogan “Rescue Malawi, Build a Better Future”, Mutharika urged Malawians to unite behind the DPP for a new beginning.
