Blantyre, Malawi – United Democratic Front (UDF) president Atupele Muluzi has called on Malawians to remain confident that their votes will be safeguarded in the upcoming Malawi general elections 2025.
Speaking during whistle-stop rallies in Blantyre on Tuesday, Muluzi assured the electorate that the electoral system has strong measures in place to prevent rigging and protect the people’s democratic choice.
Muluzi Dismisses Election Rigging Fears
The UDF leader acknowledged growing concerns among some Malawians who fear their votes may be manipulated, discouraging them from participating in the polls. However, he dismissed such fears as baseless, insisting that anyone attempting to tamper with the electoral process will be caught.
“There are some who already think they have won the elections, yet people have not voted. Malawians will vote on the 16th. No one should mislead others with claims of rigging. In the past, votes were stolen, but now there are strong mechanisms in place to protect every ballot,” said Muluzi.
Campaign Trail in Blantyre and Dedza
During his rallies, Muluzi engaged supporters in Mbayani, Blantyre Market, Zingwangwa, and Soche-Manje, where he outlined UDF’s vision and key policies aimed at addressing Malawi’s socio-economic challenges.

He is expected to continue his campaign in Dedza today, where he will emphasize the party’s reform agenda and assure citizens of UDF’s commitment to restoring trust in Malawi’s democracy.
Building Confidence in Malawi’s Democracy
Muluzi’s message comes at a critical time as Malawi prepares for the 2025 general elections. His call seeks to inspire voter confidence and encourage mass participation, ensuring that Malawians do not shy away from exercising their democratic right due to fear of electoral malpractice.
With the political atmosphere heating up, UDF continues to position itself as a credible alternative, championing transparency, accountability, and economic transformation.
