Political activist Bon Kalindo, has accused Mec Chairperson Justice Annabel Mtalimanja of lying to Malawians that transmission of results from Constituency Tally Centres to the main tally centre in Lilongwe will be done manually as the case with all other previous elections.
Kalindo said many Malawians after hearing of manual transmission of results, they were all excited that Mec has listened to the voices of Malawians for free, fair, credible and transparent elections without knowing that Mec was just fooling them.
He said he attended the Smartmatic machines testing activity in Lilongwe and he was surprised to see Mec using the machines to transmit election results saying this is the second time to fool Malawians after the first activity with opposition party leaders.
Speaking through an audio clip, Kalindo said for the first time in the history of elections, the machines being tested to transmit results electronically dismissing the earlier assurance that manual counting and transmission of results will be conducted.
Kalindo has questioned Justice Mtalimanja to explain to Malawians of where else in the world, were electronically devises been tested on the voters themselves for the citizens to trust these machines that they will do the required job.
He has noted with a great concern that three or four districts were being tested on the effectiveness of the Smartmatic machines in the transmission of results but it took about 32 minutes to transmit the results wondering what would happen on the day with all the 28 districts transmitting their results at the same time electronically?
The activist has lamented that for several times, he has been appealing to opposition parties to open their eyes on the MCP using all the tactics to employ vote rigging scheme so that President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera be declared the winner.
He has suspected that some of the opposition party leaders have pocketed money from the MCP to block all attempts of forming an opposition block against the MCP saying he doesn’t understand why opposition leaders have allowed Mec to test the machines before their eyes for the second time.
“this is the last nail on to the coffin, MCP is doing everything possible to win these elections by any means, they are all aware that once voted out of government, their heads will be hanged in the streets for arrests and prosecutions,” said Kalindo.
He has lamented that instead of the opposition leaders coming together to face the devil, they are fighting for themselves outside government for presidency and running mate position ahead of the 16th September, 2025 elections warning them that their fighting will make the devil carrying the day sponsored by Smartmatic devises.
