Blantyre, Malawi – As part of commemorating this year’s Ziyarah Parade, the Limbe Muslim Jamaat (LMJ) and Attariqatul Qadria Sunni Association (AQSA) have donated 2,000 food packs, 52 hospital beds, and children’s toys worth K250 million to the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH).

The donation, made ahead of the Ziyarah Parade 2025, reflects the Islamic principle of charity and compassion for those in need.
Charity at the Heart of Ziyarah Parade
This year’s head of Ziyarah Parade, Muhammed Jussab, said charity is not optional in Islam but a pillar of faith that every Muslim with capacity should uphold.
“Giving and sharing with those in need is not optional, but a pillar that every Muslim with the capacity must do,” he emphasised.
Echoing his words, head of distribution Abdul Kassam explained that as Muslims celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), they feel duty-bound to extend relief to vulnerable patients.

QECH Appreciates the Support
Receiving the donation, QECH Principal Nursing Officer, Linly Kaneka, commended LMJ and AQSA for stepping in to support the hospital’s needs.
“This will go a long way in helping the hospital and patient needs as government alone cannot manage to provide everything,” she said.
Ziyarah Parade 2025 in Blantyre
The Ziyarah Parade, a major Islamic event observed annually to mark the 12th day of Rabi’ Al-Awwal, will this year be held on Friday, September 5, 2025. The parade will start from Kajedza Masjid and proceed to Mpingwe Sports Club in Blantyre.

The event is expected to draw thousands of Muslims from across Malawi in honour of the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), combining both religious celebration and acts of community service.
