Blantyre, Malawi – The chairperson of the inauguration committee, Sameer Suleman, has assured Malawians that the upcoming swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Peter Mutharika will be conducted with minimal expenditure.

Suleman emphasized that the decision comes at a time when Malawi is grappling with serious economic challenges. He said Malawians voted in the recent elections with the hope that the new leadership would focus on rebuilding the economy rather than spending extravagantly on events.

“This is not the time for wasteful spending. Malawians chose us to fix the economy, not to misuse public resources,” said Suleman.

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre, where thousands of citizens are expected to witness the historic event.
