Former President of the Republic of Malawi who is also DPP leader Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, says 16th September, 2025 elections is a choice between two options; to let the present suffering deepen and grow or to use the ballot and firmly say “NO”.

Mutharika said as Malawians cast their vote to vote for candidates of their choice on Tuesday 16th September, 2025 elections, they should not forget that posterity is watching, and their children’s eyes are set saying the choice is theirs, clear and near, they can choose suffering or restoration, experiment or experience, failure or proven leadership.

He has urged Malawians to remember the kind words of one United States of America (USA) Senator Reverend Warnock who said “a vote is a kind of prayer for a world they pursue saying as the people are voting on the 16th September, 2025 they should take it as their sacred responsibility a prayer they are giving to God about the future they want for Malawi.

In his address to the nation, Professor Mutharika said people wants enough food, decent housing, free secondary school education, and drugs in hospitals urging Malawians to vote for DPP if they want development to move from central government to constituencies.

Mutharika called on all Presiding Officers to be sincere and patriotic to their country- Malawi for the results to reflect the will of the people so that the winners celebrate their victory responsibly and the losers to accept defeat honorably.

To the country’s security agencies which include Malawi Defense Force (MDF) and Malawi Police Service (MPS) and monitors, Professor Mutharika has urged them to be vigilant, and to protect the choice of Malawians.

“Above all, I thank you our supporters, the sons and daughters of Malawi, your trust, your faith, and your love, has carried us,” reads part of Mutharika’s address to the nation.

He has finally appealed to all registered voters to go out and vote for a new Malawi where everyone has equal opportunities, whether one is from Nthalire, Chimbiya, Nchalo or Mkando that they all belong to the country, and deserve a Malawi for all.
