Mutharika Leads in Karonga as MEC Awaits Final Results

As Malawians eagerly await the official announcement of the September 16 election outcomes by the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC), the Karonga District Council has submitted its final copy of unofficial presidential results to the commission.

Notably, the figures exclude votes from the Karonga Town Constituency, which will be counted and presented separately as it is recognized as its own council.

CSEIF Commends Malawi Elections as Peaceful and Credible Despite Minor Challenges

According to a pictorial document seen by Capital Online, Peter Mutharika of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is unofficially leading with 45,525 votes.

He is followed by Lazarus Chakwera of the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), who has garnered 19,072 votes.

Dalitso Kabambe of the United Transformation Movement (UTM) has so far secured 6,867 votes.

Meanwhile, the MEC continues to receive electoral results from various tally centers across Malawi as the nation anxiously waits for the final official tally.
