A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) member has advised fellow MCP members that are arguing a lot in their face book posts that the MCP goofed in the appointment of Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba as President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s running mate for the 16th September, 2025 presidential election.
The citizen speaking through a video clip said the MCP even if it took anyone be Dr. Dalitso Kabambe as President Chakwera’s running mate, could have lost the elections saying millions of Malawians lost trust in Chakwera’s leadership styles.

She said people lost interest with President Chakwera and they did not want him to continue ruling them claiming that decision-making was a challenge and the country was moving on its own without the driver.
The MCP member said truth to be told, Malawi Congress Party lost the 16th September, 2025 presidential election because of its presidential candidate Dr. Lazarus Chakwera not Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba.
She said even if the party chose Catherine Gotani- Hara as Chakwera’s running mate, the results could have been the same advising MCP members that Mumba has nothing to do with MCP loss in the elections.

The citizen said if the MCP is to get into government in 2030, it should make sure that its presidential candidate must be loved by all party members and supporters and if this will not be followed, MCP must forget about winning future elections.
She said the mentality of taking central region of Malawi as MCPs bedroom must end now saying some people went far boasting about that central region has registered over 3 million people plus trusting districts such as Dowa, Ntchisi, Kasungu, Lilongwe Rural, and Mchinji.
Writing on his face book page Lawyer Silvester Ayuba James, says if he had won the parliamentary elections for Nkhotakota central on MCP ticket, he would have contested for the position of Leader of Opposition in Parliament.
Ayuba james has claimed that Leader of Opposition must be someone recognized with a degree, special wisdom, sound policies and independent from MCP influences in order to have new faces joining the party.
He said choosing one as Leader of Opposition because he is one of the party’s financiers, owner of the party or the party is coming from his home district, should not happen again underlining that MCP is for all having been started by people of Mzimba district and this is according to history.
“But, unfortunately, they closed the road, I am an independent Member of Parliament,” reads Ayuba James writings on the wall.
