The Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) has joined the global call for peace in Gaza, offering prayers for a lasting resolution to the long-standing conflict as the first phase of the ceasefire agreement begins to take effect.
MAM’s Public Relations Officer, Sheikh Dinala Chabulika, described the ceasefire as a major relief, given the extensive loss of lives and destruction of property that Gaza has endured over the years.
“It is a relief to learn of the country’s commitment to securing peace in Gaza. However, I urge the facilitators of the ceasefire to ensure that all parties adhere strictly to the terms of the agreement,” said Sheikh Chabulika in an interview with Radio Islam Malawi.
Since 2023, when Israel launched its military offensive in Gaza, the region has suffered immense devastation. Reports indicate that over 67,000 people, including 18,000 children, have lost their lives in what many international observers have condemned as a humanitarian catastrophe.
Chabulika emphasized that true peace in Gaza can only be achieved through justice, dialogue, and mutual respect. He called on the international community, particularly Muslim nations, to intensify efforts toward rebuilding Gaza and supporting the victims of the conflict.
The Muslim Association of Malawi has been at the forefront of promoting peace, unity, and humanitarian solidarity across the world. The organization continues to engage in advocacy and prayer campaigns aimed at ending violence and restoring stability in conflict zones such as Gaza.
