DPP national Publicity Secretary Hon. Shadric Namalomba, says one cannot buy what he already has saying there is a deficit and the 200,000 metric tonnes of maize being bought from Zambia is to clear that gap that people should not die of hunger.

Namalomba said the maize being bought from Zambia will be used to control the price so that people are protected claiming that one can only intervene in the market when he has own resources observing that when there is no maize, prices go up and everything goes up, prices of essential goods should not go up as this will be paining Malawians.

Writing on his face book page, Namalomba has sent a strong message that for those holding maize in anticipation of selling it during the lean period to make a killing and skin Malawians, that they will be worried.

“To the real farmers (no maize holders) be assured that the price you shall sale for shall be enough and reasonable,” reads Namalomba’s writings on the wall.

A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has praised Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and his DPP for a decision of importing maize from Zambia describing this as a good gesture.

Kamphangala said truth to be said, people who are boasting to have maize in the country are senior members of the MCP and some senior government officials saying he was alarmed by a list of people who were given NEEF fertilizer loans.

“MCP ministers, MPs receiving 600, 700 and 800 bags of fertilizer per one person, yet a beneficiary with a coupon of fertilizer in his hands failing to access the fertilizer,” he said.

He said it is no wonder that for 5 years of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera in government, fertilizer subsidy beneficiaries were accessing bags of fertilizer when the maize has reached tasseling stage while the whole lot of fertilizer was shared among top MCP officials.

Kamphangala has joined President Professor Mutharika that people in MCP are the ones that have maize in the country and is importing maize from Zambia to all Malawians regardless of their political party affiliations.

He has urged all the good thinking Chewas to join him in praising Professor Mutharika for importing maize from the neighboring Zambia advising government to make sure that each and every one who received NEEF fertilizer loan has repaid with no mercy.

Kamphangala said it is sad that some other Malawians were eating wild bushes (chitedze) as food for their survival while some people were receiving huge bags of fertilizer loans from NEEF ranging from 100 to 500 bags in the name of small mega farms on paper while on the ground, there is zero.
