Former Malawi President and Malawi Congress Party (MCP) leader Lazarus Chakwera has arrived at the party’s headquarters in Lilongwe.
This marks his first formal engagement with the media since he left the presidency.
Chakwera is expected to address journalists and provide his perspective on recent political developments in the country.
His appearance has drawn significant attention as many Malawians are eager to hear his reflections following the transition of power after the September 16 elections.
Senior MCP officials have also arrived ahead of the briefing.
Among them is Richard Chimwendo Banda, the party’s Secretary General, who has been instrumental in coordinating party affairs during and after the elections.
Also present is Simplex Chithyola Banda, the Leader of Opposition in Parliament, who continues to play a key role in shaping the party’s voice in the legislative house.
The gathering at the MCP headquarters signals an important moment for the party as it seeks to reorganize, strengthen internal structures, and reflect on its future direction.
Chakwera’s remarks are expected to set the tone for the MCP’s next phase as it repositions itself in the new political landscape.
