Political activist Bon Kalindo and Limpopo FM oline radio station’s Nkhanga zaona programme producer Comrade Ntanyiwa, have praised Mayor for Blantyre City Council Isaac Jomo Osman for proving to the world that education is nothing but the heart of delivering.
Kalindo and Comrade Ntanyiwa said a lot was said about Jomo that he is less educated to hold the position of Mayor but today, Jomo has earned praises even from the highly educated people in Malawi that Jomo is capable of delivering the services.
The two said education only removes ignorance in the lives of people claiming that what Jomo has demonstrated is above all those that have Degrees and Diplomas speaking clearly that education has failed the country.
Comrade Ntanyiwa said Malawi is a country which has been ruled by highly educated people since 1964 independence, but the country’s education system has yielded corruption, and thieving in government with promising servant leadership on paper.
He has appealed to Jomo to do more advising him to work hand in hand with his councilors to make the City of Blantyre clean as was during the colonial government expressing hope that the Mayors for Mzuzu, Lilongwe and Zomba, will emulate such a good example Jomo has set.
On his part, Kalindo said the country has had Mayors with Degrees who witnessed the fall of their Cities as litters were all over town saying Jomo and his team is leaving no stone unturned to prove all those that insulted him as less educated that he is now educated more than those with Degrees.
Kalindo has urged Jomo to hold a joint operation with other Mayors in a quest to have all cities back to life as was during the reign of Ngwazi Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda where sanitation was the basis for all unlike today.
“Blantyre was one of the cleanest cities in Malawi but today, the principles of democracy have made individuals to be throwing litters everywhere making the country’s cities becoming bleeding grounds for houseflies and cockroaches,” said Kalindo.
And on a sad note, Kalindo said it is very unfortunate that Malawi Defence Force (MDF) officers who served in the peace- keeping mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)and working for the Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) have up to this day, not paid for their allowances.
