JB, who is currently based in the U.S., made the appeal through his official Facebook page, highlighting what he described as his unique capacity to advance Malawi’s interests abroad. He argues that his international exposure, networks, and understanding of both Malawian and American contexts position him well to contribute meaningfully to diplomatic and economic engagement.

“By appointing me to the U.S. Embassy, Malawi would benefit greatly. I can open many doors, and foreign exchange inflows would increase significantly,” the artist wrote, underscoring his confidence in leveraging creative-industry connections and diaspora networks to support national development.

Beyond music, JB has been an active public figure, notably campaigning for the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and its leadership during the September 16 general elections last year. His supporters view the appeal as an extension of his patriotic commitment—translating cultural influence and international reach into service for the country.

The call has generated wide discussion online, with admirers praising JB’s ambition and willingness to serve, and highlighting the growing role of cultural ambassadors in modern diplomacy.
