The Qadria Muslim Association of Malawi (QMAM) has embarked on a new project aimed at supporting Muslim farmers with fertiliser across all 28 districts of the country.

Speaking during the official handover of fertiliser at Area 44B in Lilongwe, QMAM National Chairperson, Brother Mussa Balasani, said the initiative is designed to empower Muslim farmers to become self-reliant while boosting agricultural productivity in the country.

Balasani explained that the fertiliser will be distributed through farming clubs, and after harvest, beneficiaries will refund the support in the form of farm produce.

He added that the association has committed to buying all the produce from the farmers and will also support the clubs with additional farm inputs in the next growing season.

“QMAM plans to reach out to 10,000 Muslim farmers nationwide as part of efforts to eradicate hunger among Muslim farming communities,” explained Balasani.

Meanwhile, Chairperson of Upile Club in Area 44B, Idrus Machaka, thanked QMAM for the timely support, saying the assistance will greatly improve farming activities.

Machaka assured the association that the club is committed to refunding the fertiliser through produce and selling their harvest to QMAM at agreed and fair prices.
