Bakili Muluzi TV- an online television station, has accused the Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) of working against the new government of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and its leader President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.
Bakili Muluzi TV said the HRDC has lodged a complaint that DPP ministers are always on the roads of Malawi from one district on to another describing this as a waste of the country’s public resources considering with the country’s ailing economy.
He said the HRDC was there during president Chakwera’s global trotting and witnessed Chakwera’s sleeping in Lodges in Chikwawa, Rumphi, Karonga and Chitipa, but it was quiet only clapping hands that Chakwera was doing servant leadership to Malawians.
The activist has claimed that President Chakwera was travelling in the air and on land singing the popular song “Wadya ntoliro” saying at no time the HRDC rose from bed to tell Chakwera that his unnecessary moving is draining the country’s forex.
He said the HRDC was there watching the MCP led government procuring fertilizer in a butchery and pharmacies, billions of Kwachas looted at the Greenbelt Authority, Salima Sugar Company and NEEF, among others, there was no statement from the organization speaking for itself that the HRDC is part of the MCP.
The activist said if the HRDC was working for the voiceless citizens of Malawi, there would have been a number of press statements to the MCP led government with threats of holding peaceful protests on the country’s roads, but all this, did not happen.
He said the Minister in question by the HRDC Dr. Ben Malunga Phiri is visiting councils across the country strategizing on K5 billion Constituency Development Fund (CDF) questioning the HRDC that is this draining the country’s public resources?
Bakili Muluzi TV said recently, Deputy Minister for Homeland Security Norman Paulosi Chisale visited the Immigration offices in Lilongwe to hear the concerns of people that they were paying K500,000s and K1 millions as bribes to Immigration officials for passports which did not come out, questioning the HRDC that was this draining government resources?
He said what the HRDC is complaining is not far from what MCP Publicity Secretary Dr. Jessie Kabwila told MCP youth while drinking maheu to be quiet in the party only observing the four- cornerstones upon which the party was founded by the late Dr. Kamuzu Banda.
“The MCP has stolen billions and billions of Kwachas from government coffers, should MCP members and supporters be clapping hands on this while them were not shared even K1,000, this is nonsense,” said Bakili Muluzi TV.
He said if this statement had come from the DPP and President Professor Mutharika’s mouth, the HRDC would have released its statement condemning the remarks in strongest terms possible but because the HRDC is part of MCP, there is nothing wrong with Dr. Kabwila’s speech.
