Hope For Improved Efficiency As Maneb Launches E-System

Education authorities are optimistic that the e-registration and e-payment systems that the Malawi National Examinations Board-MANEB has launched will greatly help in reducing the pressure and struggle associated with the manual payment method that has been under implementation for years.

Deputy Minister of Education Monica Chang’anamuno shared the sentiments on Wednesday in Lilongwe when she officially presided over the launch of the new system.

She also hailed MANEB for introducing the initiative and called on Malawians to embrace mindset change and the system for speedy operations

“I therefore call on developmental partners to jump in and support in raising awareness to people especially in the rural areas on how best they can use the platform,” said Chang’anamuno.

Meanwhile, MANEB Executive Director Professor Dorothy Nampota described the introduction of the e-payment and e-registration systems as great milestones that would ease the burden of registering students for national examinations.

She hoped the new platforms would eradicate the errors in registration as schools would be able to access their portal and verify their data on time.

Nampota further explained that through the use of the online registration and payment there would be transparency and accountability in fees payment as parents and guardians would be required to pay directly into the system.

Stressed Nampota: “Guardians should no longer be paying the examinations fees manually as this is no longer recognized. The registration and payment starts today, 12th October and will close on 16 December and there will be no extension.”

Airtel Money, TNM Mpamba, National Bank FDH Bank and NBS Bank are some of the new ways of payments in the new initiative.
