Police in Namadzi, Chiradzulu have arrested five men over burglary and theft.
The five have been arrested following a spate of crimes in Chitera and Mbulumbuzi areas in the district during September and October this year.
Following the arrests, the police have also recovered property worth over K2 million the men are suspected to have stolen.
The five are Mphatso Mankhwala, 26 Anthony Ali, 42, Jonas Kenesi 19 and Gift Chinangwa 30 and one minor aged 17. They all come from Chiradzulu.

Sub Inspector Frank Kadaya, a Crimes Investigation Officer at Namadzi Police Post said police carried out a raid following investigations they carried out with assistance from the public.
“We commend the public, especially members of community policing who helped us carry out an operation through which we managed to apprehend the suspects,” Kadaya said in an interview.
Some of the items the police have recovered include laptops, cell phones, mattresses, school books and home electronics.
The police have since taken the five to Mbulumbuzi Magistrate Court where charges of burglary and theft have been levelled against the suspects.
