The United Transformation Movement Party-UTM has issued a statement in support of the Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) demonstration.

The protest, which is scheduled to take place in Lilongwe, aims to address various issues affecting the country.

In a statement signed by UTM’s Publicity Secretary, Felix Njawala, the party has made several demands.

It said firstly, they are calling for the resignation of Minister of Energy, Ibrahim Matola, citing his failure to address the current fuel shortage crisis.

It further said that secondly, UTM is demanding the resignation of Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) Director General, Henry Kachaje, for his alleged role in the fuel shortage crisis.

It added that the party is calling for the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) to investigate allegations of vote-buying during recent by-elections.

CDED is expected to present its demands to the government, calling for action to be taken on various issues affecting the country.

UTM’s statement of support for CDEDI’s demonstration highlights the party’s commitment to advocating for the rights of Malawians.
