Dalitso Kabambe, the newly elected president of the United Transformation Movement (UTM), has assured Malawians that his party will tackle the country’s problems if voted into power in the 2025 elections.
Kabambe made these promises during his first tour after being elected UTM president, where he addressed rallies in Thyolo’s Mtambanyama area.
Kabambe identified some of the critical issues affecting Malawians, including fuel shortages.
Kabambe acknowledged the persistent fuel shortages and pledged to resolve this issue by September 2025.
He vowed to address the economic challenges facing the country, such as foreign exchange shortages and rising prices.
Again, Kabambe promised to ensure food security by addressing the rising cost of maize and other staple foods.
As a former Governor of the Reserve Bank of Malawi, Kabambe brings his economic expertise to the table.
He envisions UTM as a party focused on economic growth and financial stability.
Kabambe’s leadership is expected to rebrand UTM and appeal to urban voters, businesses, and the middle class.
Kabambe has made it clear that UTM will not form alliances with other parties, emphasizing that his party will stand alone in the 2025 elections.
He encouraged those interested in alliances to support UTM instead.
With Kabambe at the helm, UTM is poised to reposition itself as a force to reckon with in Malawian politics.
