Malawians in various social media platforms have accused the Public Affairs Committee (PAC) of coming too late to side with them after leaving President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and his MCP government destroying the country for 4 years.
Malawians have observed that the 4 years of President Chakwera and his MCP have been painful and sufferings, the country was moving on its own with a President who is not a leader while PAC members were clapping hands after receiving Khaki envelops to fatten their stomachs.
They have described the statement released by PAC Chairperson MSGR Dr. Patrick Thawale as useless advising the committee that the better they would have done was to continue keeping quiet as they have done for 4 years of defending President Chakwera than provoking the suffering citizens.
One, Mrs. Elizabeth Kaliza Banda of Area 51 in Lilongwe has proposed the disbandment of PAC which is led by MSGR Dr. Thawale and let the country move as it is up to the 16th September, 2025 for Malawians to decide on whether to have the religious body or not.
Kaliza said the Public Affairs Committee (PAC) is the voiceless of all citizens in the country but has failed to live up to its expectations because of Khaki envelops from State House urging Malawians to pray hard for its members to receive God’s punishment while they are living on this Earthly world.
“Let’s pray hard for God above to listen to our prayers so that PAC members are punished for receiving taxpayers’ money out of closing their mouths with Chakwera’s khaki envelops,” she said.
In a statement after holding an interface meeting with President Chakwera at the Kamuzu Palace on Monday 13th January, 2025 the PAC says the general political atmosphere has put Chakwera’s political party on the exit stage unless something spectacular emerges saying even in his strongholds, the doubt on his winning is loud and clear.
The statement says all the road construction is excellent, for the people, the standard of living has gone down, the perception that the regime is still corrupt stands, that most civil servants are frustrated remains a fact, and that fuel crisis continues is a reality saying the observation is that Chakwera’s leadership has failed.
It says the general view is that there have been failed leadership tainted with hypocrisy, by failing to act on officials allegedly involved in corruption practices, Chakwera’s leadership may be benefiting from the civil service leadership and those Ministers named in such corrupt acts.
The PAC has finally say it is their hope that in the remaining months President Chakwera can turn around this perception saying the doubt is real, the failures are massive and obvious, calling upon President Chakwera to act on issues of national importance before the public rises against him that patience has limits.
