One such story is that of a local entrepreneur who started with nothing more than a small basket of tomatoes and a dream to change his life.
Born into a low-income family, the businessman says life was never easy growing up. With limited opportunities and financial challenges, he was forced to find ways to survive at a young age. Selling tomatoes at a local market became his daily routine, often waking up before sunrise to buy produce and spending long hours searching for customers.

Despite the challenges, he refused to give up.
Using small profits from tomato sales, he slowly expanded into other products including onions, cooking oil, and groceries. Over time, his determination and consistency began to pay off. Years later, what started as a small market stall has now grown into a successful business empire employing dozens of Malawians.
Today, he owns several wholesale shops, supplies goods to different districts, and has invested in transport and property businesses. The entrepreneur says discipline, patience, and persistence were key to his journey.
“Many people want quick success, but business requires sacrifice,” he says. “There were times I slept in the shop because I could not afford transport or rent.”

“You can start with whatever little you have. The important thing is to remain focused and avoid giving up.”
