Kamphangala says age limit bill to benefit Kabambe not Chakwera

A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has warned MCP Members of Parliament (MPs) championing to table Age Limit Bill in Parliament to think twice because the results will not favor President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.

Kamphangala said Malawians are all aware that the proposed Age Limit Bill is politically motivated as it has one agenda of blocking an individual person Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika who is over 80 years from standing on the 16th September, 2025 Presidential Elections.

He has asked MCP MPs to not to give false hopes to President Chakwera that once Professor Mutharika is barred from standing in the elections this would be an added advantage to President Chakwera that he will sail out easily.

The MCP diehard has made it clear that President Chakwera’s popularity is almost zero amongst Malawians and including his own tribe -Chewa who are not ready to vote for him even if the elections are held today.

He said it is very sad that President Chakwera is being surrounded by people who do not want to tell him the truth that Malawians have lost trust in him and are regretting to have voted for a wrong person into the office of the presidency in June, 2020.

Kamphangala said Isaiah Emmanuel Sunganimoyo at one time warned the party that three-quarters of MCP National Executive Committee (NEC) do not want President Chakwera to continue leading the MCP and become the party’s torchbearer in the September, 2025 elections.

He said MCP NEC members preferred to be led by either Mr. Simbi Phiri, owner of Khato Civils Engineering Company or Entrepreneur Dr. Napoleon Dzombe saying this already is clearly speaking for itself that the grass root support have withdrawn their vote from President Chakwera.

The MCP diehard has advised MCP MPs ready to table the Age Limit Bill to question themselves that have they consulted their constituents on who will be the best candidate to be voted for come the 16th September, 2025 elections? If the answer is no, a recipe for disaster is coming in the MCP.

He said most of the people are throwing their weight on Professor Mutharika and if he is barred from standing, their second option is Dr. Dalitso Kabambe come rain or sunshine saying this demand critical thinking on those planning to table the Age Limit Bill in Parliament.

“If Professor Mutharika is barred from standing, Dr. Kabambe will win the hearts of many including the Chewas of the central region of Malawi,” said Kamphangala.

He has urged disgruntled MCP members that have lost trust in Chakwera and many have declared no interest to take part in the voting processes on the 16th September, 2025 elections, not to lose hope, Dr. Dalitso Kabambe is set to transform the country from destruction.

Kamphangala said in Lesotho, a six months formed political party won the country’s elections with majority votes advising Malawians not to underrate Dr. Dalitso Kabambe saying he has served in 3 different governments and has vast experience of transforming the economy from collapsing.

He has finally urged MCP MPs set to introduce the proposed Age Limit Bill to go ahead to set the light for Dr. Dalitso Kabambe to win the elections saying all opposition party supporters will remain intact together with disgruntled MCP members will give no votes to President Chakwera on the 16th September, 2025 elections.
