A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has asked President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to outline development projects he has implemented in the country as a matter of clarifying his State of the Nations Address (SONA).
Kamphangala said after heavy criticisms that President Chakwera presented completed projects on paper but not existing on the ground, President Chakwera withdrawn his SONA but he did not tell Malawians how much was allocated for each project.
He said President Chakwera will go down in the history of the Malawi Parliament as the first to present lies in a House of Records and the first to withdraw his SONA blanketing Malawians not disclosing figures allocated for the projects.
The MCP diehard said the coming to the open by former President Dr. Joyce Banda dismissing Chakwera’s claim that the two village houses she built in Limbuli-Mulanje were built through Joyce Banda Foundation, has exposed that President Chakwera is a liar.
Dr. Joyce Banda said she was surprised to learn that the two houses she built funded through donations from friends and well-wishers appeared on President Chakwera’s SONA as completed projects describing this as a blue lie.
Kamphangala has asked President Chakwera to go back to Parliament to deliver a real SONA basing on the development projects his government has initiated in the 5 years he has been in power for Members of Parliament to deliberate.
He has expressed his deep concern that since Friday, 14th February, 2025 when President Chakwera delivered his SONA full of lies, Members of Parliament are quiet without inviting President Chakwera to appear before Parliament to clarify his SONA and deliver a new SONA reflecting the real situation on the ground.
The MCP diehard said it is sad that President Chakwera presented lies of completed projects on paper not existing on the ground in Chewa dominated districts which are for the MCP speaking for itself that MCP members themselves are fed up with lies from President Chakwera.
“Some Central Region districts reacted more angrily to the SONA as lies, Ntchisi, Dedza and Mchinji, proved it all with pictures of uncompleted projects appearing on the SONA as completed ones,” said Kamphangala.
He said by going to Parliament to withdraw his SONA, President Chakwera has proved himself that he is surrounded by ministers and advisors who have been lying to him for 5 years making him to believe that President Chakwera is just the President and two to three people are the ones taking decisions for the country.
Kamphangala said by today, President Chakwera would have fired all those ministers who fed him with lies to present in Parliament but none has been fired, a clear testimony that all of these lies were cooked directed by him.
He has finally advised President Chakwera to swallow his pride by apologizing to Malawians and not continue clarifying his SONA to the youth describing this as time wasting and a waste of government resources which could have gone a long way to procure medical drugs in hospitals.
