Kalindo warns MCP Police against live bullets during demonstrations

By Vincent Gunde

Political activist Bon Kalindo, has expressed his grave concern over some police officers who are showing their unprofessional conduct by going to the demonstrations carrying with them live bullets to kill the protesters warning them that they will be judged according to their actions.

Kalindo has reminded police officers that they have a duty to protect life and property but within them, there are other officers who are receiving orders from their party-MCP to kill innocent people holding demonstrations.

He has asked MCP Police to borrow a leaf from fellow Police officers who are at Maula Prison charged of murdering Buleya Lule at Area 3-Lilongwe Police Station’s cell while politicians who sent them to do the bad act, are free.

Speaking through an audio clip, Kalindo said sources within the police have confided to him that police officers going to the demonstrations some of them do carry live bullets saying professional police officers use rubber bullets during demonstrations.

Kalindo has asked Human Rights watchdogs to visit Zomba General Hospital where there is a victim of a live bullet by a police officer saying the man identified as Alfred Chimwaza is battling for his life saying he was shot before the demonstrations started.

He said the Mzuzu demonstrations has witnessed one person who is battling for his life at the Mzuzu Central Hospital after being shot with live bullets by MCP Police warning the two police officers in Zomba and Mzuzu respectively that Malawi is a small country, a day is coming for Malawi to be big.

The activist said Malawi First is monitoring the situation on the ground and should anything happen to these two victims in Zomba and Mzuzu MCP Police and MCP itself will be held accountable for shoot to kill demonstrators.

“The matter of police using live bullets to the protesters will not be left under the carpet but reporting it to the International Criminal Court of justice,” said Kalindo.

He has asked musician Dan Lu not to trust politicians claiming that he could not have spent a night in police cell at Lingadzi Police Station for beating up a Lilongwe Water Board (LWB) officer who came to his house to disconnect water for unpaid bills.

Kalindo said MCP has told Dan Lu a great lesson that the party is the same as it was during the reign of Ngwazi Dr. Hastings Banda, it uses a person and later dump him urging other musicians to take this as their own lesson.

He has finally advised the MCP government to taste the anger of Malawians by arresting former President and DPP leader Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and Atupele Muluzi assuring it that they will regret before the country go to the polls on the 16th September, 2025 elections.
