Moyale Barracks Football Club and the entire Malawian football community are mourning the untimely passing of first-choice goalkeeper Simeon Harawa.
Harawa died on Tuesday morning in Mzuzu, sending shockwaves through the sports fraternity and beyond.
The gifted shot-stopper will be laid to rest on Thursday at his home village of Chindewe in Rumphi District.
His burial will be conducted with full military honours, a tribute befitting both his service to the Malawi Defence Force and his dedication to the beautiful game.
According to a funeral programme released by Moyale Barracks, preparations are underway to ensure a dignified and solemn farewell for the fallen soldier and footballer.
Harawa was born on 25 March 1995, a date now etched in the hearts of those who knew and admired him.
He began his journey with Moyale Barracks Football Club in 2015, where he quickly rose through the ranks due to his commitment, discipline, and exceptional goalkeeping talent.
In 2019, Harawa further demonstrated his patriotism by officially joining the Malawi Defence Force, aligning his football career with a deeper sense of national duty.
Throughout his time at Moyale Barracks, Harawa was known not only for his incredible saves but also for his humility, teamwork, and leadership on and off the pitch.
His presence in goal gave his teammates confidence and his fans countless moments of pride.
For nearly a decade, he stood as a symbol of resilience and determination, earning respect across the TNM Super League.
As news of his death spread, tributes have poured in from teammates, fellow soldiers, coaches, and fans who remember him not just as an athlete, but as a kind-hearted and disciplined young man.
