Sunganimoyo urges Malawi Government not to chase away former colonialists

Social commentator graduated to an independent presidential aspirant for the 16th September, 2025 elections Isaiah Emmanuel Sunganimoyo, has urged Malawi Government to exercise caution and avoid blindly following trends from other nations particularly those that involve chasing away former colonialists or adopting radical policies, saying the consequences of such actions can be severe and far-reaching.

Africa is facing the wind of political change blowing which started from West Africa in countries such as Mali, Senegal, Niger, and Burkina Faso and has now reached Lesotho where a six-months old formed political party won the hearts of many and win elections.

Following the wind of political change, African countries after for long been watching Europeans extracting precious minerals to their countries and return the money to Africans through aid and loans, they have now open their eyes that Africa is for Africans.

In West Africa, most of the countries which were colonized by France and speaks French language are now reacting to claims that what belongs to Africa is for Africans, time has now come to say enough is enough with the French.

African countries are now switching their ties from the West to Russia and China as their new partners after being with the Americans and British for long, their leaders have been turned into puppets by western countries.

Sunganimoyo said the Americans and Europeans may seem to be stepping back giving African countries the opportunity to engage with China, Russia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) warning Malawians that this is a strategic move designed to push African nations towards the new partners observing that the IMF is stepping back to support African nations including Malawi.

He said it may appear that the World Bank and European Investment Bank will continue to provide loans and development aid to African countries saying this is just temporary measure and in the long run, African nations will likely cry out in distress as they realize the true extent of the influence of these new partners.

The social commentator said in less than 5 to 10 years, African nations will likely face significant changes including economic instability, social unrest, loss of foreign investments, land disputes, reversal of progress and brain drain.

Sunganimoyo has appealed to the Malawi Government and the current leadership of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to take his caution seriously and prioritize policies that promote stability, economic growth, and development asking him to learn from the experiences of other nations and chart a path that benefits the country and the people.

“By being cautions and thoughtful in our decision-making, we can avoid the pitfalls that have affected other countries and build a brighter future for ourselves and future generations,” he said.
