Mangochi came alive with celebration and purpose as senior government officials joined the Catholic faithful to honour Bishop Montfort Sitima on his 68th birthday, an event marked by unity, generosity, and commitment to education.
Minister of Transport and Public Works, Feston Kaupa, and Minister of Information, Shadric Namalomba, were among the high-profile dignitaries attending the colourful celebration, which drew clergy, community leaders, and well-wishers from across the country. Kaupa served as the guest of honour, underscoring the importance the government places on faith-based institutions in national development.
The celebration featured a fundraising luncheon aimed at supporting the education of seminarians under the Diocese of Mangochi. Speaking during the event, Bishop Sitima expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, noting that the proceeds would go a long way in nurturing future priests and strengthening moral leadership in society.
He emphasized that investing in the education of seminarians is an investment in the country’s spiritual and social well-being, as the Church continues to play a vital role in education, health, and community development.
