President Peter Mutharika: “Four Months of Delivery Beats Five Years of Failure”

Reported by Suleman Chitera

has boldly declared that his government has achieved more in just four months than what some administrations failed to deliver in five years—sending a clear message to critics and doubters alike.

Addressing the nation, Mutharika pointed to tangible economic gains as proof of what he called decisive and focused leadership. Chief among them is the stabilisation of prices of essential goods, with several commodities already recording noticeable declines—relief that many Malawians say they can finally feel in their pockets.

“This is not rhetoric. This is delivery,” Mutharika said, insisting that his administration hit the ground running, prioritising economic stability, restoring confidence in markets, and putting the needs of ordinary citizens first.

The President contrasted his record with past governments he accused of wasting years on promises, excuses, and policy paralysis. “Malawi does not need leaders who experiment for five years. It needs leaders who act—immediately,” he stressed.

Supporters argue that the early results reflect a return to disciplined economic management and clear policy direction, while critics remain sceptical, urging more time to assess sustainability. But for Mutharika, the message is blunt and uncompromising: performance matters more than timelines.

As the political temperature rises, one thing is clear—Mutharika is framing the national debate around results, not rhetoric, and daring his rivals to match his record.
