Area 25B – Kanthepa location caretaker Block Leader Mr. Mike Mgawana, has warned residents of the area against stealing whatever people have contributed to assist the deceased family mourn their departed loved ones with dignity.
For long, some people in the area have been taking advantage of the funeral services to be stealing maize flour and money contributed by the residents for personal gains.Residents in Despair as Killings Continue Unabated in Lilongwe’s Area 25
Recently, some people posing to have been sent by the firmer Block Leader went house by house collecting money in advance which will be used during any funeral service in the area.
To this day, no one in the area knows how much was collected and the Treasurer keep the money with some people accusing the former Block Leader of bringing in a new culture which has never been witnessed in the area ever since.
The situation forced the residents to be reluctant in contributing money and maize flour to help the deceised family meeting some costs.

Mgawana said no person prepares that there can be a funeral service in his house and when such day comes, he is helpless.
He said as has been the culture from the past, people are being asked to contribute a little of what they have to go to the bereaved family for support but some other clever people have been taking and using the support for their personal benefits, a development which has been worrying the residents of the area.
The caretaker Block Leader appealed to all the residents to wear human faces that whenever there’s is a funeral service, they should protect every Kwacha, maize flour and firewood contributed to reach the deçeised family.

He appealed for unity among the residents of the area that him being Caretaker Block Leader, is ready to work with anyone who is eyeing for the future of Kanthepa location.
Speaking at the same funeral service, Councilor for Lilongwe City Kabwabwa ward Lloyd Matewere Junior, expressed his deep concern over dumping of baby dippers and pumpers everywhere warning all those behind this, to stop forthwith.

He reminded the people that these loans will go to everyone, emphasizing that those who wants to get K2 million loan must have a collateral of K4 million and without a collateral, one stands not to qualify for this loan scheme.
