The Government of Malawi has commended the United Kingdom for its continued commitment to supporting the country’s development through investments in agriculture, education and other key economic sectors.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation George Chaponda made the remarks during celebrations marking the official birthday of King Charles III, held on June 18 at the British High Commissioner’s Residence in Lilongwe.Chaponda assures IMF of DPP commitment to ECF
Chaponda expressed gratitude to the British monarchy and government for their longstanding partnership with Malawi, highlighting the support provided during times of national hardship. He specifically thanked King Charles III for facilitating relief assistance following the declaration by former President Arthur Peter Mutharika that 28 districts were facing hunger.
“The United Kingdom has remained a reliable development partner, contributing significantly to efforts aimed at improving the livelihoods of Malawians,” said Chaponda.
Speaking at the event, British High Commissioner to Malawi, reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s commitment to supporting Malawi’s economic growth and sustainable development.
The celebration also recognised outstanding young Malawian innovators who are making a difference in agriculture and renewable energy. The recognition celebrates their innovation, leadership and contribution towards advancing Malawi’s agriculture and energy sectors, underscoring the importance of youth-led solutions in driving the country’s economic transformation.
