United Democratic Front (UDF) leader, Atupele Muluzi, has called on Malawians to vote for leaders who are committed to fighting corruption and driving sustainable development in the country. Speaking at a campaign rally, Muluzi stressed that the nation needs a new generation of leadership that prioritises integrity, accountability, and progress.
A Call for Responsible Voting
Muluzi reminded Malawians of the power of their votes, saying:
“Your vote is your future, your vote is your life. If you want Malawi to change, let us bring in new leadership, youthful leadership. The time to protect Malawi is now, the time to change is now, and the moment for transformation has arrived.”

Drawing inspiration from the biblical story of David and Goliath, the UDF leader Atupele Muluzi described himself as “David with a stone,” symbolising courage and determination to defeat corruption and poor governance, despite overwhelming odds.

Atupele Muluzi emphasised that he has no history of corruption and no record of embezzlement, positioning himself as a leader with clean hands. He assured Malawians that his vision is to build a nation where development is not hindered by corrupt practices and misuse of resources.
“I am a leader who stands against corruption, mismanagement, and selfishness. I have no hole in my pocket,” he said, reinforcing his commitment to transparency and accountability.
The Future of Malawi
Muluzi’s message resonated strongly with young voters, who he believes are key to shaping Malawi’s future. He argued that for the country to achieve sustainable development, job creation, improved education, and healthcare, leaders with integrity must be entrusted with power.
As the September 16 General Elections approach, his remarks serve as a strong reminder that the choice Malawians make at the ballot box will determine the direction of the nation for years to come.
