The Central Medical Stores Trust – CMST is revealing that the drug stock level in its warehouses currently stands at 60%.
Thousands of patients, including pregnant women, have in recent times been enduring untold distress as hospitals persistently run out of essential medical drugs.
Equally depressing fate has been endured by other patients requiring surgeries which are either delayed or postponed due to a lack of blood and other essential lifesaving products.
The situation has, however, greatly improved following the Reserve Bank of Malawi’s decision to release forex to enable the CMST to purchase drugs.
CMST Board Chairperson, Josiah Mayani, highlights that they have put in measures to address the problem of drug theft.
