A group of concerned citizens calling itself “M’badwa zokhudzidwa’ wants President Lazarus Chakwera to announce firing of ACB Director General Martha Chizuma during his evening Press briefing to take place at 20:00hrs today.
The grouping has been pushing for Chizuma’s firing, as they accuse her of violating her oath of office following a leaked telephone conversation.
Addressing Members of the Press in Lilongwe, leader of the grouping Redson Munlo expressed concern with what he described as ‘continued stubbornness’ by the ACB Boss who is still clinging to her position despite their calls for her to resign.
“As M’badwa zokhudzidwa, we are also shocked with President Lazarus Chakwera’s continued defiance to our calls for him to fire Chizuma, We hereby want to remind the President that we are Malawians who ushered him into power. It is us who made him President, therefore, we expect him to respect us by listening and acting on our calls,” said Munlo.
Munlo has also disclosed that the grouping has now notified the Lilongwe District Council of their fresh plans to seal ACB offices on Monday next week.
Munlo, his co-leader Agape Khombe and three others are on bail after Police arrested them as they attempted to seal the ACB offices without seeking permission from the Council.
