National Registration Bureau on Thursday revealed that it will soon start mandatory birth and death registration as a means for Government to record accurate data of the country’s population.
The development was revealed during a Full Council meeting, held in the district’s community hall.
Principal Secretary for National Registration Bureau in the Ministry of Homeland Security, Mphatso Sambo, urged all sectors to collaborate with the bureau, so that the exercise should be successful.
“This exercise is important for the country’s development, because for opportunities to be distributed equally to the citizenry Government has to have a true reflection of the population,” he said.
Sambo added that they are engaging Traditional Leaders because they are an integral part in the registration exercise.
Senior Chief Ndindi was however quick to mention that they will need adequate civic education before the exercise is rolled out.
