Mayor for Mangochi Municipal Council, councillor Edina Yusuf Jose has died.

The council’s chief executive officer, Abubakar Nkhoma has confirmed, saying Jose died in the early hours of today, August 14 2022, at Mangochi District Hospital.

According to Nkhoma, she was diagnosed with Tuberculosis (TB) two weeks ago and was admitted to the district hospital.

Yusuf Jose was, until her death, United Democratic Front councillor for Mwasa Ward in Mangochi North East Constituency and was elected as Mayor in 2021.

Her body is expected to be laid to rest later today at Mgundaphiri Village, Senior Traditional Authority Mponda in the district.
