Nankhumwa Told ADMARC Staff To Return To Work On Monday

This comes after government suspended ADMARC services and announced that all employees must go on paid leave.

Nankhumwa has told the Media in Lilongwe that the ‘closure’ of grain trader ADMARC by government is a bad decision and ill-timed as it will affect farmers and the Nation which is at the verge of facing hunger.

Nankhumwa, said the Minister has no powers to close ADMARC, saying he was suppose to follow right processes such as engaging Parliament before effecting the decision.

He said, the Opposition is well informed that this is a plan to close down ADMARC completely so that some government officials should buy the ADMARC Maize at k205 per kg and then sell it to NFRA which has been given mandate to buy Maize. He adds that this is also a plan to implement their failed plans to export Maize to Zimbabwe.

“Akanakhala kuti akufuna kukonza ntchito za ADMARC akanawapatsa Kaye notice onse ogwira ntchito ku ADMARC, koma ai izi sizinachitike, anduna angodzuka ndikulamula kuti zitero. Boma silinaganizile anthu oposela 4,000 ogwira ntchito ku ADMARC,”said Nankhumwa.

Nankhumwa has then told ADMARC officials to return to work on Monday saying if they face any problem at the Office, they should inform the Chairperson of the Parliamentary committee on Agriculture Sameer Suleman.
