In a heartwarming display of generosity and commitment to their faith, the family of renowned businessman Yona Kanjiwa has donated a newly constructed church building to the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Nalikule, which falls under the Central Malawi Conference.
The church, which was officially handed over to the congregation on Sunday, is a state-of-the-art facility that will provide a conducive environment for worship and community activities. According to Yona Kanjiwa, the decision to build the church was inspired by his family’s desire to give back to the community and express their gratitude to God for the blessings they have received.
“We felt compelled to build this church as a way of showing our appreciation to God for the success we have achieved in our business endeavors,” Kanjiwa explained. “We believe that this church will not only provide a place of worship for the congregation but also serve as a hub for community development initiatives.”
The construction of the church began in 2021 and was completed recently. The facility features modern amenities, including a spacious sanctuary, offices, and classrooms.

In his remarks, Pastor Kamgona referenced Luke 7:4-5, which says, “And when they came to Jesus, they begged him to help the centurion. ‘He is worthy of this,’ they said, ‘for he loves our nation and has built our synagogue.'”
The pastor noted that the Kanjiwa family’s donation was a testament to their love for God and their community. “Just like the centurion in the Bible, the Kanjiwa family has demonstrated their love for God and their community by building this beautiful church,” Pastor Kamgona said.
The Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Nalikule has been growing rapidly in recent years, and the new church building will provide a much-needed space for worship and community activities. The congregation has expressed its gratitude to the Kanjiwa family for their generosity and has pledged to make good use of the facility.
