Minister of Natural Resources and Climate Change Eisenhower Mkaka has said Malawi is interested to explore opportunities in carbon trading mechanisms to ensure attainment of its development agenda in relation to climate change as stipulated in Malawi 2063 and the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) which is long-term policy frameworks for climate change management and sustainable development.
Mkaka was speaking during a signing ceremony on Carbon trading framework with Switzerland at a side event on Wednesday in Sharm El Sheik, Egypt.
Natural Resources Minister explained carbon trading as among those opportunities that are providing mechanism for unlocking development and resilience building for our vulnerable communities that have been adversely affected by climate change.

This means that Malawi will benefit from carbon trading by getting funds that will be used for climate change mitigation.
And Parliamentary Committee Chairperson on Natural Resources and Climate Change Welani Chilenga expressed gratitude on signing the agreement saying it will support fight against Climate Change.
