Some quarters in Mchinji allege some police officers have become corrupt due to over staying in the district and are now pushing for their transfers.
A member of community policing who opted for anonymity shared the concern during a meeting aimed at taking stock of security operations in the third quarter of the year.
He alleged that the officers with many years of working in the district are frustrating the fight against crime; claiming they receive bribes from law offenders.
Meanwhile, Officer In-Charge for Mchinji Police Station, John Nkhoma, promised to remind men in uniform codes and conduct of their job before making another decision he did not disclose.
From July to September, the district has recorded an increase in criminal cases by 13.9 percent whilst murder cases have also surged with 25 percent.
On sexual offences such as rape and assault, Mchinji has recorded a 100 percent decrease whilst defilement has declined with 32 percent comparing with last year same period.
