Malawi’s Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Kondwani Nankhumwa says looking at how President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has failed to answer simple questions in Parliament, it is a clear sign that Malawi is heading in the wrong direction.
Nankhumwa was speaking to the press today at Parliament Building after he had ask President Chakwera to outline his short, medium and long term plans on how he is planning to deal with blackouts, rising cost of living, AIP mess, the much touted Bridgin Foundation among others.
“It is a lost opportunity for him to come Parliament and fail to answer such important questions, said Nankhumwa .
Nankhumwa says one MP asked him why he is failing to fulfill his campaign promise on reducing powers on ACB Director appointment.
In Parliament, Nankhumwa took President to task on what plans his government has put in place to contain the rising cost of living in short , medium and long term.
Nankhumwa also asked the President to deal with issues of security in the country which has seen even churches being broken into by robbers.
But leader of the house Chimwendo Banda said Nankhumwa questions were out of order because they were not related to the main questions. However Chakwera attempted to answer the questions by saying ” nobody should find pleasure in lawlessness and even encouraging people to do evil”.
