United Democratic Front (UDF) spokesperson, Yusuf Mwawa says the party is yet to decide on when to conduct its elective convention, remarks which contradicts party president Lilian Patel who is on record, the party will elect new leaders in August this year.
Mwawa said the party officials will soon converge to discuss the matter, as guided by the constitution “which stipulates that they can conduct the convention any time before six months to the elections.”
Mwawa said the party is working independently and hopes to attain the 50+1 votes come 2025, basing his argument that it happened during the Bakili Muluzi and Bingu wa Mutharika era.
