Today, marks 40 years since three cabinet ministers and a parliamentarian were reportedly murdered in Mwanza under the one party regime.
On 18 May 1983, the four also called the Mwanza four, Dick Matenje, Aaron Gadama, John Twaibu Sangala and David Chiwanga, died in mysterious circumstances in Thambani, Mwanza.
Lost History Foundation Executive Director, Conleith Selenje says the four were heroes that need to be remembered for their bravery in speaking against the financial mismanagement in government, urging the current leaders to emulate.

It is reported that the four openly made scathing remarks in March 1983 over massive overspending and indebtedness by some government parastatals.
