Police in Liwonde have arrested two men, Muhammad Dison (28) and Jabil James (20), on suspicion of stealing railway metal bars. The two were caught in Malosa, Zomba District, while transporting the stolen materials on a truck.

Liwonde Police spokesperson Ngwashape Nsume confirmed the arrests, stating that the suspects were apprehended when they failed to provide a satisfactory explanation about the items they were carrying. This raised suspicions, leading the police to confiscate the metals and detain the men.

Nsume further indicated that investigations are underway to identify and arrest other individuals believed to be involved in the same illegal activities.

Dison and James, both from Matache Village under Traditional Authority Mposa in Liwonde, are expected to appear in court soon to face charges related to the theft of the metal bars.

The police are committed to curbing such criminal activities in the area and urge the public to report any suspicious behavior to authorities.
