Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the Eastern Region, Bright Msaka SC, was among the notable figures who attended the Mulhakho wa Alhomwe annual festival held in Chonde, Mulanje. The festival, a major cultural event for the Lhomwe people, attracted thousands of attendees and key political figures from across the country.
Msaka’s presence at the festival underscored the DPP’s continued support for the Lhomwe community and its cultural heritage. During the event, Msaka interacted with the festival-goers, paying tribute to the importance of the Mulhakho wa Alhomwe in preserving Lhomwe traditions and fostering unity among the people.
The event was also graced by other high-profile leaders, including DPP’s presidential candidate, Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, who addressed the crowd and emphasized the need for unity among the Lhomwe people.
Msaka’s attendance further highlighted the significance of cultural festivals in Malawi’s political landscape, with political leaders using such platforms to connect with their supporters. The Mulhakho wa Alhomwe festival continues to serve as a gathering point for the Lhomwe community, promoting cultural pride and solidarity.
As the DPP gears up for the 2025 elections, the presence of key leaders like Msaka at such events signals the party’s efforts to solidify its base and maintain close ties with cultural and community groups across the country.
