The Ntcheu Youth Alliance is launching its much-anticipated Youth Empowerment Agenda today at the Ntcheu Secondary School grounds. The initiative, aimed at empowering over 400 youths in the district, seeks to equip young people with practical skills in trades such as tailoring, beauty and fashion design, carpentry, and other vocational fields.

Independent Shadow Member of Parliament for Ntcheu Central, Paul Wongani Ng’oma, is expected to officially launch the empowerment agenda. The project marks a significant milestone for the district, focusing on addressing unemployment and enhancing the capabilities of the younger generation through hands-on training.

Dearly Moyo, the chairperson of the Ntcheu Youth Alliance, emphasized the importance of empowering young people so they can play a meaningful role in the development of their communities. “We believe that when young people are given the tools and skills to thrive, they can contribute significantly to the district’s development,” Moyo stated. He further noted that the initiative aims to bridge the skills gap and offer opportunities to youths who might not have had access to formal education or training.

The launch event is set to be an exciting occasion, with performances by several local artists, including Zeze Kingston, Piksy, Skeffa Chimoto, and Papa Bwai, who are expected to bring a festive atmosphere to the gathering. The participation of these artists underscores the connection between youth empowerment and cultural expression, inspiring the young attendees to pursue their dreams.

The Youth Empowerment Agenda is seen as a proactive response to the challenges faced by young people in Ntcheu, including high unemployment rates and limited access to formal education. By providing practical skills training, the initiative hopes to equip the youths with the ability to start their own businesses or seek employment in their respective trades, contributing to the overall economic development of the district.

As the initiative takes off, the Ntcheu Youth Alliance looks forward to creating a brighter future for the district’s young population, with the hope that the skills acquired through the program will have long-lasting benefits for individuals and the community as a whole.
