The Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) has appointed Reverend Father, Dr. Wilfred Sumani, as the acting vice chancellor of the Catholic University of Malawi (CUNIMA).
The development follows the demise of the country’s renowned legal scholar,Associate Professor Ngeyi Ruth Kanyongolo, who until her death last week was the Vice Chancellor of the university.

In a letter signed by ECM Chairperson, most Reverend George Tambala states that the decision is to ensure continued leadership at the institution as the ECM process to fill the post permanently.
Reverend Dr. Wilfred Sumani once served as the Director of Academic Affairs at the same institution in 2021.
