Former Luanar Student Mapundi To Join Active Politics
Former Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) Student Union President Hastings Mapundi has unveiled plans to join active politics and run in next year’s parliamentary elections in Nsanje Central Constituency.
Mapundi, a graduate in veterinary and general agriculture says he has taken the risk of joining politics in order to be part of solution to a myriad of challenges people in the constituency are facing to access development.
According to Mapundi who is Executive Director of agricultural thinktank Ulimi Mobile Services, agriculture, education, health and transport infrastructures are some of his priority areas once voted into office.

The youthful politician is however non committal on whether he will run on party or indipendent ticket saying he is still consulting on the same.
This far, Mapundi brings to five number of people who have expressed interest to run for parliamentary elections in Nsanje Central Constituency, with others being Anthony Malunga, Maria chisaka Maulidi, Ndafakale Mpomba and the incumbent Malawi Congress Party (MCP) legislator Kafandikhale Mandevana.
