Kasambwe Brothers Band embarks on U.S. tour and album recording

The celebrated Kasambwe Brothers Band has departed Malawi for an exciting month-long tour in the United States, set to feature performances and a major recording project. The tour marks a significant milestone for the band as they prepare to perform at one of the most prestigious art spaces, the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. In addition to live performances, the band will head to Los Angeles to record a new album at Hans House Studios, collaborating with renowned producer Harlan Steinberger.

Speaking at Chileka International Airport before the band’s departure, Luc Deschamps, Director of the Jacaranda Cultural Centre and Sounds of Malawi Acoustic Sessions, expressed his admiration for the journey the band is undertaking. Deschamps praised the support extended to the Kasambwe Brothers Band, emphasizing the unique opportunity this tour presents for Malawian music. “This is a golden opportunity for the band to showcase some of their new masterpieces and bring the sounds of Malawi to an international stage,” he said.

The Kasambwe Brothers Band is expected to draw inspiration from the diverse music scenes in the U.S. and will likely experiment with new sounds and techniques under Steinberger’s guidance. Known for his work with various world music artists, Steinberger brings a global perspective that could add a new dimension to the band’s signature style.
